So disappointed in myself. Like an idiot I went to Gawker and read through the headlines on the front page. I feel soiled. A notchback for your time.

That’s okay. I commented on the recent Adequate Man piece, a branch of deadspin that I have largely disagreed with. I can picture the authors thinking aloud in a Harold Slovinski voice: “This is the stuff that men like!”

As your doctor I would suggest you browse through the headlines on the front page of oppo to raise your spirits. Gawker just wants to see the world burn.

Ertrggh BEER AND FOOTBALL AND MUSCLE CARS AND PICKUP TRUCKS AND BOOBS. “yeah, men are simplistic morons, just repeat that ×10000 and we’ve got a hit website. Or country music. Or both."

Actually, today’s topic was how to propose to your partner that you want to have an open relationship. After the fact. The author was leading to the “how” but ignored completely the question if one even should, and what it says about your relationship status at all to even THINK of suggesting it to begin with. Okay that’s not too true, she touched on her thoughts on the matter. However I felt she didn’t go deep enough, just kind of went with the whole “entitled to your feelings and needs” shlap. Furthermore, this piece was vaguely similar to a one I read on Jezebel not long ago dealing with the same subject.

I feel like the Internet often looks at stuff (like monogamous relationships) and then says “why are things that way? Why not just do the opposite?” without actually considering the consequences.
Usually this is a good thing, (homophobia, racism, bigotry, etc) but Reddit/Tumbler/Gawker etc... like to take this philosophy to places it need not be.

People tend to forget that sure, in a open relationship you get more sex, but so does the person your in a relationship with. What’s to stop them from leaving you because they found something ‘better’?
Plus, a relationship is more than sex, it's about being with someone you enjoy and want to be with, even if you're arguing with each other.
